Jaume Plensa (Barcelona, 1955) is an internationally recognized sculptor and contemporary artist, considered one of the most influential creators in public art and monumental sculpture. His work explores universal themes such as the human condition, memory, language, and spirituality, using diverse materials like iron, bronze, glass, resin, light, and sound.
Trained at the Escola de la Llotja and the Escola Superior de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi in Barcelona, Plensa has developed a career marked by the combination of technique, visual poetry, and reflection. Since his first exhibitions in 1980, he has worked and exhibited in Europe and the United States, and has taught at international art institutions.
Renowned for his emblematic public sculptures—such as Crown Fountain in Chicago—Plensa has received significant awards and distinctions, and his work is part of museums, galleries, and collections worldwide, cementing his status as a key figure in contemporary art.
