Collection: Josep Moscardó
Josep Moscardó (Barcelona, 1953) is a Catalan painter, sculptor, engraver, and draftsman with a distinctive post-impressionistic tradition, renowned for his mastery of color, light, and the poetic representation of everyday life. His work is characterized by spontaneous brushstrokes, luminous atmospheres, and an expressive approach that engages with the viewer through urban landscapes, seascapes, interior scenes, and figurative motifs.
Trained at the Escola de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi and the Escola d'Arts Aplicades i Oficis de Barcelona, Moscardó has maintained a style faithful to painting en plein air , capturing the essence of his surroundings and his travels through Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Paris, Europe, and the United States.
His artistic production also includes graphic work and mixed media; between 1998 and 2016, he was involved with the La Palmera silkscreen workshop, where he explored new visual expressions through graphic processes.
Since the early 1970s, Moscardó has exhibited regularly both in Spain and abroad, with solo exhibitions in the United States and participation in collective exhibitions in the United Kingdom, United States, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, and other countries. He currently presents his work periodically in galleries in Barcelona and Sant Cugat del Vallès.
In addition to painting, he has incorporated iron sculpture since the early eighties, extending his visual language into three dimensions with pieces of strong formal vitality.
His work is featured in public and private collections and has been the subject of monographic exhibitions such as Parelles at La GaLeRia (Sant Cugat del Vallès), where panoramas, urban landscapes, scenes, and sculptures reflecting his visual poetry and constant interest in human relationships and everyday spaces were displayed.
